Bennington

Bennington is located in and is the seat of Bennington County. The city lies along Highway 7 at the junction with Highway 9. Bennington is in southwest Vermont in a valley between Mount Anthony and the foothills of the Green Mountains. The town is only a short drive from Boston, New York, and Montreal.

Bennington was chartered in 1749, and was the site of the Battle of Bennington on August 16, 1777, which was a victory for the American forces under General Stark.
