Derby Line is located in Orleans County east of Newport, eight miles from the Canadian border in northern Vermont. It lies along Highway 111 on the banks of the Barton River. The historic Haskell Opera House sits astride the international border. Uniquely, the audience, seated in the Unites States, watches a performance taking place in Canada.
