Founded in 1834, Green Mountain College is a four-year, coeducational private college located in Poultney, Rutland County. As an environmental liberal arts institution, GMC offers students a special opportunity to integrate modern environmental thought into a traditional liberal arts or pre-professional course of study, regardless of major. At the heart of the colleges environmental mission is the 36-credit Environmental Liberal Arts Program (ELAP), which all GMC students complete. ELAP combines the skills and content of a strong liberal arts course of study with a focus on the environment. Students may earn a bachelor of arts, bachelor of science, or bachelor of fine arts degree in one of the colleges 25 majors and academic programs. The College community includes students from around the globe, and numerous opportunities exist for study abroad, including formal exchange agreements with colleges and universities in Israel, Korea, and Wales.
