Old Stone House Museum

This museum is an imposing four-story granite structure situated just off Hinman Road. Completed in 1836, it has the distinction of having been built by Alexander Twilight, the country's first African-American college graduate, and once served as a dormitory for schoolchildren.

Today it houses the collection of the Orleans County Historical Society. Included in its exhibits are furniture, decorative arts, folk art, paintings, textiles, costumes, kitchenware, farm and trade tools. A small research library may be used by appointment. Genealogical research assistance also is available.
