Seven hundred-acre Basin Harbor Club opened in 1880 on the shores of Lake Champlain. Some guests prefer the comfort and convenience of rooming in the Lodge, the Champlain House or the historic Homestead. Others prefer the quiet and seclusion afforded by one of 77 cottages scattered throughout the grounds. They have from one to three bedrooms, each with bath. No two cottages are alike: some have fireplaces, decks and screened porches with views of lake, golf course and/or gardens. The lakeside Main Dining Room serves breakfast and dinner daily. Sunday Jazz Brunches and seafood buffets and cookouts are additional favorites. The casual Red Mill, open daily for lunch and dinner, features a lighter fare of burgers, salads, vegetarian and seafood. Extensive facilities are available for conferences, reunions and weddings. Activities include on-site golf, biking and hiking, boating and fishing, tennis, fitness and jogging. The nearest airport is Burlington Intl Airport.
