Hoquiam Washington

Hoquiam, Washington (Cities) image

Hoquiam, and its twin city of Aberdeen feature mile after mile of tree farms. Forest products have been a staple of the area's economy since Hoquiam's first sawmill opened in 1882. With the reduction of timber harvesting, the town has come under hard times.

The city's name derives from the Chehalis Indian word meaning "hungry for wood."
