Highway 97 runs from Weed CA to the Canadian border along the eastern side of the Cascades. In Washington, the highway crosses the Columbia River south of Goldendale and passes through the Yakima Indian Reservation before reaching Toppenish, Yakima, and Ellensburg, where it crosses Interstate 90. On its way north, it descends the Wenatchee River valley through Cashmere to Wenatchee. From Wenatchee north, it follows the Columbia past Chelan to its confluence with Okanagon River. From here, it goes through Okanogan, Omak, and Oroville before reaching Canada.
