A suburb of Tacoma in Pierce County, Lakewood is noted as the home of Pacific Lutheran University, and is a perfect starting point for visiting dozens of area destinations including Mount Rainier National Park. Lakewood is appropriately named for its three lakes - American, Gravelly, and Steilacoom. There is also a Lakewood, Colorado. Lakewood is part of the Tacoma, WA metro area.
