Stehekin is a small, remote community is at the end of Lake Chelan. It is accessible only by boat, floatplane, or foot. The town is a launching point for exploring North Cascades National Park, Lake Chelan - Sawtooth Wilderness, or Glacier Peak Wilderness - featuring some of Washington's most spectacular wilderness. Stehekin is a Native American word meaning "the way through." The town began in the late 1880s when prospectors came in search of silver and gold.
