King County may not be at the geographic center of Washington, but it is the economic, population, cultural and educational center. Its county seat is
Seattle, easily the largest city in Washington. Its eastern suburbs across
Lake Washington, such as
Bellevue,
Redmond, and
Kirkland, are prospering and growing rapidly. The formerly unincorporated areas around the Sea-Tac airport and south have become the cities of Sea-Tac and
Federal Way, instantly becoming some of the larger cities in the state. And eastward, the county extends into the fastness of the Cascades.
