Big Bay State Park is located on Madeline Island, the largest of Lake Superior's 22 Apostle Islands. The 2,350-acre park includes sandstone bluffs, caves and a 1.5-mile sand beach.
The park, was established in 1963, and has a day use picnic area with tables, grills, water and toilets. There is a campground with drinking water, showers and toilets. An indoor camp facility for nonprofit groups and organizations and an outdoor group camp.
The park holds more than nine miles of trails, including interesting nature trails. There is great fishing and Anglers can catch northern pike in the park's lagoon or several species of trout in Lake Superior.
