Kewaunee is located in Kewaunee County (of which it is the county seat) east of Green Bay between Manitowoc and Sturgeon Bay along Highway 42 on the banks of the Kewaunee River and the shore of Lake Michigan near Algoma. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 2,709, a decrease of 41 since 1990.
