Sturgeon Bay is located in Door County (of which it is the county seat) northeast of Green Bay between Kewaunee and Egg Harbor along Highway 42 near Algoma, Carlsville, Potawatomi State Park, and Whitefish Dunes State Park. Sturgeon Bay is renowned for its traditional downtown, maritime industries, aquatic resources & recreational opportunities, and tourism amenities.The town was officially incorporated on April 7, 1883. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 9,360, an increase of 184 since 1990.
