The Wisconsin Maritime Museum is located on the shores of Lake Michigan. It was founded in 1970 as the Manitowoc Submarine Memorial Association and has grown into one of the largest maritime museums in the Midwest. The museum commemorates the maritime heritage of the Manitowoc-Two Rivers as well as the submarines that were built there during World War II. Today, the Wisconsin Maritime Museum is a leader in preserving the maritime history of Wisconsin and the Great Lakes region.
