Stanley is located in Chippewa County between Wausau and Chippewa Falls just off Hwy 29 on the banks of the Wolf River near Cadott, Otter Lake, and the southern portion of Chequamegon National Forest. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 1,997, a decrease of 14 since 1990. Stanley is part of the Eau Claire, Wisconsin metro area.
