Waukesha is located in Waukesha County (of which it is the county seat) between Milwaukee and Jefferson along US Highway 18 on the banks of the Fox River near New Berlin, Brookfield, Pewaukee, and Wales. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 61,989, an increase of 5,095 since 1990. Waukesha is part of the Milwaukee-Waukesha, Wisconsin metro area.
