Bangor is a seaport in
Carnavonshire, nine miles NE of
Carnarvon and 60 miles west of
Chester. The city is divided into two parts. Lower Bangor, lying along the southeastern side of a narrow valley at the mouth of the Menai Strait, and Upper Bangor, the residential quarter, on a ridge to the north overlooking the strait. A campus of the University of Wales is located here.
