The highest peak in the
Cambrian Mountains, Snowdon rises to a height of 3560 feet. It consists of five distinct peaks, of which the centrally located Yr Wyddfa is the highest. It is in
Carnavonshire.
During the last ice age, only the highest peaks were above the glaciers. The effects can be seen in the grooves on exposed rock, caused by boulders being dragged by the advancing ice, and by the moraines of boulder and gravel.
