Snowdonia National Park |
Snowdonia, known as Eryri in Welsh, was the third National Park in England and Wales, created in 1951. It covers 878 square miles, making it the second largest park in England and Wales. This is the heartland of Welsh culture and about two thirds of estimated 27,500 people who live and work within its boundaries.
Within the park is found Snowdon, Wales' highest peak and the source of the English name for the park. It is also home to a variety of rare and endangered species, including the peregrine falcon and the Snowdon lily.
