Founded in 1837 and part of the University of West Virginia system, this is a comprehensive public institution offering programs in liberal arts and sciences, business, education, fine arts, and nursing. There are 7 undergraduate and 2 graduate schools. The 70 acre campus is in an urban area 126 miles east of Lexington Kentucky and 50 miles west of
Charleston. Including residence halls, there are 30 buildings.
