Cabwaylingo State Forest is steeped in the history of the Civilian Conservation Corps of the 1930's and 1940's. Tick Ridge Fire Tower is situated nearby the forest. Thirteen standard cabins, featuring stone fireplaces, electric lighting, showers and a fully equipped kitchen are available. All cabins are completely equipped and provide housekeeping. A 20 site rustic campground with standard sites at Tick Ridge and an 11 site campground at Spruce are available. An old CCC barracks with a 100 person fully-equipped group camp is available for church retreats, civic meetings, family reunions and other large social outings. Special events hosted include the Annual Forest Festival and the Annual Stream Clean. The State Forest features a pool, bathhouse and a wading pool for children, rustic picnic shelters and basketball and volleyball courts. Fishing and hunting opportunities are available in the within the surrounding area.
