Boysen Reservoir is located in the
Boysen State Park, about 100 miles west of
Casper and 20 miles south of
Thermopolis in
Fremont County in central Wyoming. The reservoir is located towards the south end of the
Wind River Canyon, west of the
Bighorn River and north of the
Wind River. The reservoir is located within the
Wind River Indian Reservation as well. The 19,000 acre reservoir provides excellent fishing and water recreation. It also holds the state record for biggest walleye at 17 pounds, 6 and 3/4 ounces. Ice fishing is popular in the winter. Access to the reservoir and the park itself are available on both Highway 20 on the east side of the reservoir and Hwy 26 on the south side of the reservoir.
