Mammoth Lakes

Mammoth Lakes is located southeast of Sacramento between June Lake and Bishop along US Highway 395 on the banks of the San Joaquin River near Mono Lake.

It was named after the Mammoth Mining Company and was ranked No. 3 on 50 Best Places to Live list by Men's Journal magazine, 2002. It was the filming location for the 1969 movie, "True Grit".
