The James L. Goodwin Conservation Center in Chaplin, named for its principal donor, is an education facility owned and operated by the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection.
The Center was a gift to the people of Connecticut, to be used for education about "general wildlife and forest conservation." Located in the town of Hampton, the center is funded by endowment funds, tax dollars, program fees, donations and grants. Programs are available for public, school groups, educators, and special interest groups.
