The University of Chicago was founded in 1890 by the American Baptist Education Society and oil magnate John D. Rockefeller. The original vision for the University was that it would combine an American-style undergraduate liberal arts college with a German-style graduate research university. That vision has been fulfilled as the University has become a national leader in higher education and research.
UC is located in Cook County, IL, and has an enrollment of about 13,000. Student housing is available for 2326.
