This road connects
Paxson to
Cantwell, the
Richardson Hwy to the
Parks Hwy. The 136-mile gravel road is closed in winter. The rough road leads to dozens of primitive campsites in the
Tangle Lakes, famous for its canoe trail.
There is excellent fishing in the area, which is also popular with fishermen, hunters and mountain bikers. There are 400 sites in the Tangle Lakes Archeological District that contain evidence of 10,000 years of hunter/gatherers.
