Houston is located in
Matanuska-Susitna Borough at Mile 57.5
Parks Hwy north of
Wasilla. Houston is known for its excellent fishing on the Little Susitna River, where the city operates a campground.
The area was homesteaded in the 1950's and the city became incorporated in 1966. The king salmon run is May-June, followed by the silver salmon run in late July and August. There are many other lakes and streams in the area.
Houston City Hall is located in the fire station at Mile 57.3 Parks Hwy.
