Historic Fort Gaines |
This pre-Civil War fort was the site of the Battle of Mobile Bay, now famous for the words, 'Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead.' The site features the cannons actually used in the battle as well as tunnels, a blacksmith shop, kitchen, bakery and bastions. Souvenirs can be purchased at the Museum gift shop.
