Northeast Alabama Community College is a two-year, public institution, located in Rainsville,
De Kalb County.
Many individuals and organizations were instrumental in locating Northeast Alabama Community College on the Jackson-DeKalb County line in 1964. The Jackson County Board of Revenue and the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners each donated thirty acres for the school. Classes began at Northeast in September 1965 with 380 freshmen in four buildings. The Northeast campus now consists of more than 110 acres and 14 buildings serving approximately 1800 students.
