Trenholm State Technical College |
Trenholm State Technical College is located in Montgomery, the capital city of Alabama, which has a population of approximately 300,000. The college is 100 miles south of Birmingham in the central part of the state. Historical points of interest include City Hall, where Rosa Parks was tried for refusing to give up her bus seat; Miss White s School, officially named the Montgomery Industrial School for Negro Girls, where leaders of Montgomery s black community were educated; and Dexter Parsonage where the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. lived while pastor of what is now the Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church. The city offers historical experiences related to the civil rights movement.
Trenholm State is a two-year, state-supported, coed, technical college founded in 1965 with a current total enrollment of about 700 and a student-teacher ratio of 16:1. Three main areas of study are Health Services, Office Systems and Trade and Industry Tecnologies.
