Founded in 1950 to provide the finest eye care to all Alabamians, the Eye Foundation opened The Eye Foundation Hospital in 1963. Since then, the Eye Foundation Hospital has performed more than 70,000 surgical procedures and annually served more than 20,000 patients from around Alabama, the nation, and the world. In 1997, the Eye Foundation Hospital joined the UAB Health System.
