At the foot of Dugger Mountain, Piedmont is located in Calhoun County (North Region), 24 miles E of Gadsden along Highway 78 near Talladega National Forest. One of the local attractions is the Chief Ladiga Trail that covers the wilderness area of the Dugger Mountain. The Weiss Lake, Lake Neely Henry, and the Coosa River are nearby providing plenty of rafting, boating, and canoeing with plenty of fishing. The city is full of history at the Piedmont Museum. This museum provides plenty of information about the past of the city and the surrounding area. The school system at Piedmont is a high priority making it rank high in academics. There are junior colleges, community colleges, and the Jacksonville State University.
