Baxter Regional is a 1,100 employee, private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization governed by a local (and uncompensated) board of directors. The hospital board of directors has 11 members, including the current medical chief of staff and chief of staff-elect. The entire community benefits from a 501(c)(3) hospital because, according to law, any surplus money must be used exclusively for development of the facility.
