Melbourne is located in
Izard County southeast of
Mountain Home, between
Mountain View and
Salem on Hwy 9. Also situated in the
Ozark Mountains east of
Calico Rock.
Melbourne is only a short drive west from the world famous White River, home of record breaking trout. A few short miles northwest you will find another excellent trout stream, the North Fork River. And just past it is Lake Norfork, home of all kind of water sports. Close to the Folk Center you will find one of the Arkansas' greatest treasures, the Blanchard Springs Caverns. On the way to visit the Caverns and the Folk Center, stop off at Sylamore and catch a ride on the White River Scenic Railroad. On your excursions, you will more than likely run into some of the native wildlife such as the whitetail deer and the wild turkey.
