Abbotsford British Columbia |
Known as the Fraser Valley's "City in the Country," Abbotsford is located on Highway 1 (The Transcanada Highway), 16 miles east of Langley. Also known as the Raspberry Capital of Canada, it is one of the fastest growing communities in the valley. An urban centre, Abbotsford is surrounded by snowy peaks, parks, lush produce and dairy farms, berry crops and bright yellow tulip fields. Visitors can pick berries, sample raspberry pie at the annual Abbotsford Berry Festival, or tour a dairy or goat farm. The area also boasts spectacular hiking trails along rivers, ravines, a rainforest and mountain lake. You can fish for trout or salmon, and tour the Fraser Valley Trout Hatchery. The renowned Abbotsford Air Show is held here, preceded by "Flight Begins" Airshow Week.
