Barkerville British Columbia |
Barkerville roared to life during the Cariboo Gold Rush. Today, many of the historic buildings are preserved and the town is a magnet for visitors who wish to relive the earlier era.
Barkerville is east of Quesnel on Highway 26, past Wells. It was the terminus of the original Cariboo Wagon Road.
Barkerville is open year round. The full interpretive program occurs during summer months, when staff dress in costumes of historical characters. Special events include Dominion Day on July 1 and Victorian Christmas celebrations on the weekend before Christmas.
