Cariboo Wagon Road
|

|
The pioneer trail that carried gold seekers north during the Cariboo Gold Rush still remains in many places. Built in 1861, it begins in Lillooet, where a cairn marks the spot from which all mileages are calculated. Road houses gave their names to towns that remain today, such as 70 Mile House, 100 Mile House, and 108 Mile House. The road stretched to Barkerville, preserved today as a heritage site.
