100 Mile House is located on Highway 97 in central British Columbia. Its beginnings can be traced to the Gold Rush days when it was established along the Cariboo Wagon Road, 100 miles from Lillooet, as a stagecoach stop where travelers could refresh themselves. Today, one of the original Barnard Expres stagecoaches is on display at the north end of town.
100 Mile House is the self-proclaimed "International Nordic Ski Capital. The annual Cariboo Marathon attracts an international field of skiers for the first weekend in February. Snowmobiling, dog sledding, ice fishing and downhill skiing are also popular.
