, Duncan is known as the City of Totems. At least 22 totems line the highway, and downtown the works of local native carvers are displayed. Books on local history, and period memorabelia can be found at the Cowichan Valley Museum, open Monday through Saturday in June through September. The town, considered the primary business center of the Cowichan Valley, has a population of approximately 4,500.

Seattle Japanese Cultural Festival Seattle WA April26-28 The festival features Japanese exhibits, performances, and demonstrations. Held at the Seattle Center in the Fisher Pavilion. The annual festival began in 1976 with a gift of 1,000 cherry trees to the city of Seattle from the Japanese government to celebrate the U.S. Bicentennial.
