The Nimpkish River meanders through a steep-sided forsted valley and features important salmon and black bear habitat. Most of the park has been logged in the past but there are some riverside old growth stands remaining.

The park is popular with recreational fishermen, but there are no camping facilities. It is located north of Nimpkish Lake and southeast of Port McNeill.
