The first dam on the Columbia River, Mica Dam impounds Kinbasket Lake, which stretches almost from
Valemount to
Golden. The dam is a major source of hydro power. It is accessible by Highway 23, whose only purpose is to reach from
Revelstoke to Mica Creek, the community which services the dam.
