Oliver British Columbia |
Located north of Osoyoos on Highway 97, Oliver offers diverse attractions, such as the "Vest Pocket Desert" Ecological Reserve, the bird sanctuary at Vaseux Lake, the historic townsite of Fairview, and four nearby wineries that offer tasting.
When the town was established in 1921 as a settlement for veterans of the First World War, a canal was constructed to provide irrigtion. Vineyards, vegetable gardens and orchard producing bushels of peaches, pears, plums, and apples now thrive in an area blessed by more than 2000 hours of sunshine a year.
