The Scheldt River runs along the western edge of Bornem, a commune of 20,000 a few kilometers southwest of Antwerp. Two museums of interest in Bornem include the Notelaer hunting pavilion, and the Zilverreiger, dedicated to life and crafts of the population living on the Scheldt. Hingene, Mariekerke, and Weert are boroughs within the municipal district of Bornem.
