The Belgian monarch King Baudouin's reign lasted for 43 years, from 1950 until 1993. Upon his death, a foundation was set up which sustains, among other things, the three
Bellevue Museums. These are the
Ruins of the Palace of Charles V, the
Museum of the Belgian Dynasty, and the King Baudouin Memorial. The memorial chronicles his life and times, from the untimely demise of his mother, to the abdication of his father, to events of international significance such as the end of the colonisation of the Congo, to Baudouin's personal and religious life.
