The town of Arlon was an important Roman outpost during the first three centuries CE, as it was sitiuated at the crossroads connecting Trier, Metz, Rheims and Tongeren. The core collection of the Musee Luxembourgeois is made up of archaelogical remnants from this era. Merovingian artifacts from the seventh century make up the bulk of the rest.
