The Museum of Photography Charleroi is part art museum, part history museum. It contains over 60.000 images and 2.500 cameras, plus temporary exhibitions, a discovery area, a library, a documentation centre and a bookshop. Pictorialists, modernists, surrealists and photo-journalists are all represented in the collection of photographic prints.
The photographic inheritance of Wallonia is partly the archival responsibility of the Museum of Photography Charleroi, and the museum frequently organizes temporary exhibitions and puts out publications relating to Wallonial cultural materials.
