Bounded on the west by the Mother Lode Country and on the east by
Lake Tahoe, Eldorado National Forest contains two thirds of a million acres of land in the
Sierra Nevada. Popular with recreationists in the spring and summer especially, there are also ski areas that attract winter visitors. Part of the Pacific Crest National Trail is contained within the forest.
