Founded in 1889, this is a public institution offering undergraduate programs in liberal arts and sciences, business and education. There are 3 undergraduate schools and 1 graduate school. The 177-acre campus is in a suburban area 29 miles east of Hartford and 90 miles southwest of Boston. Including residence halls there are 29 buildings, many of which are historic. There are over 48 clubs and organizations on campus. Tours are available through the admissions office.
