Enfield

Enfield is located in Hartford County north of Hartford between Windsor Locks and East Windsor along Highway 5 on the banks of the Connecticut River near the Massachussetts state line. Bradley International Inn is located just southwest.

The community is named after an English village. The town was incorporated in 1683.

In 1674, the General Court of Massachusetts granted land stretching as far south as Asnuntuck Brook to the Town of Springfield. That year, Springfield's John Pynchon built the first European structure in what would soon be Enfield, a saw mill on the Brook.

Local attractions include: Scantic River, Shaker Pond, Crescent Lake, Stony Brook, New England Air Museum, Whites Pond, and the Farmington River.
