Enfield is located in
Hartford County north of
Hartford between
Windsor Locks and
East Windsor along Highway 5 on the banks of the
Connecticut River near the Massachussetts state line.
Bradley International Inn is located just southwest.
The community is named after an English village. The town was incorporated in 1683.
In 1674, the General Court of Massachusetts granted land stretching as far south as Asnuntuck Brook to the Town of Springfield. That year, Springfield's John Pynchon built the first European structure in what would soon be Enfield, a saw mill on the Brook.
Local attractions include: Scantic River, Shaker Pond, Crescent Lake, Stony Brook, New England Air Museum, Whites Pond, and the Farmington River.
