Yale Collection of Musical Instruments |
This collection contains over 1,000 instruments, most documenting the Western European art music tradition, especially 1550-1850. Included are the Steinert Collection, the Skinner Collection, the Herrmann Collection, the Albert Steinert Collection, and the Ketchum Collection. Open to the general public-- $1 donation suggested. Hours 1-4 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday (closed July-Aug). The museum has permanent exhibits, lectures and special exhibitions. Annual Sunday afternoon concerts on restored instruments from the collection.
